Facial & Skin Treatment Pre-Care Guide

Preparing your skin before a facial or advanced skin treatment at Novu Skin Studio helps ensure your treatment is safe, comfortable and suitable for your skin.

As every treatment is personalised to your individual skin and concerns, please make sure your skin specialist is aware of any relevant medical conditions, medications or recent treatments before your appointment.

Before Your Facial or Skin Treatment

Tell us about your health and medication

Please let your skin specialist know before your treatment if you:

• Are taking any medication, including topical or oral medication.
• Have any medical conditions or are currently being treated by your GP.
• Have been diagnosed with or previously experienced cold sores or Herpes simplex.

This information helps us assess whether your chosen treatment is appropriate for your skin and circumstances.

Avoid retinol before your treatment

Please avoid using retinol or retinoid products for at least 4-5 days before your appointment, unless you have been specifically advised otherwise by your healthcare professional.

Botox and dermal fillers

If you have recently had Botox or dermal fillers, please allow at least 14 days before having a facial treatment.

This allows the treatment to fully settle before your facial or advanced skin treatment.

Avoid other skin treatments before your appointment

For at least one week before your treatment, please avoid:

• Shaving the treatment area
• Laser treatments
• Chemical or other intensive peels
• Waxing
• Aggressive exfoliation

Avoiding these treatments helps prevent unnecessary irritation or sensitivity before your appointment.

Stay hydrated

Please drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment and arrive well hydrated. Keeping your skin and body hydrated can help support your overall skin health and treatment experience.
