Facial & Skin Treatment Post-Care Guide

Following a facial or advanced skin treatment at Novu Skin Studio, your skin may be temporarily more sensitive as it responds to the treatment. Following the correct aftercare helps support your skin, minimise irritation and protect your results.

Your skin specialist will provide personalised advice based on the treatment you have received and your individual skin needs.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

Following treatments such as microneedling or chemical/advanced peels, it is normal for the skin to appear temporarily red or feel slightly sensitive.

For most clients, this redness settles within approximately 1–3 hours, although this can vary depending on the treatment and individual skin response.

Avoid Excessive Heat

For at least 48 hours after your treatment, avoid excessive heat, including:

  • Saunas

  • Steam rooms

  • Very hot baths or showers

  • Other activities that cause prolonged overheating

This helps minimise unnecessary irritation while your skin is recovering.

Protect Your Skin From the Sun

Avoid direct sun exposure for at least two weeks following treatment.

**Please avoid sunbeds at all costs.**

If you need to be outdoors:

  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 or higher.

  • Reapply sunscreen regularly.

  • Wear a hat or other protective clothing where appropriate.

  • Seek shade whenever possible.

Sun protection is particularly important following advanced skin treatments, as UV exposure can increase the risk of pigmentation and irritation. All skin types require protection from UV exposure.

Avoid Waxing and Aggressive Exfoliation

For 7 days after your treatment, avoid:

  • Facial waxing

  • Scrubs

  • Peels

  • Aggressive exfoliation

  • Facial cleansing brushes or other abrasive tools

Allowing your skin time to recover helps protect the skin barrier and reduce the risk of irritation.

Avoid Alcohol

Please avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after your treatment.

Support Your Skin

After treatment, your skin may be more receptive to skincare products. Your skin specialist will advise you on which products are appropriate for your skin and treatment.

Where recommended, serums and suitable skincare products can be incorporated into your routine to support your skin following treatment.

It's also important to drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated.
